Matt made the PrairieThunder after coming to the team on a training camp agreement. He is a 2008 graduate of The Ohio State University where he earned a degree in sports management. He was a four-year letterman in ice hockey for the Buckeyes where he was a four-time Scholar-Athlete and a three-time Big Ten Conference All-Academic selection.
He played 156 games for the Buckeyes, scoring 15 goals with 37 assists for 52 points. Matt played with the Chicago Freeze of the NAHL and the Chicago Steel of the USHL before enrolling at Ohio State. He began his professional career in 2007-08 with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL for four games.
Last season, Matt played with the Berlin Polar Bears of the DEL for 14 games before a torn ACL ended his season. He had one goal and four assists for five points.
