Brett begins his third season with the PrairieThunder – the only team he has played for during his professional career – ranked third in career goals scored (36), assists (50) and points (86). He was fourth in games played with 146.
He was the leading scorer among rookies for Bloomington during the 2007-08 campaign when he posted 31 points, which ranked 10th in the league overall among first-year players and fifth overall on the team. Brett also was one of only two players to appear in all 76 PrairieThunder contests.
Last year, Brett easily surpassed his rookie season totals in goals scored, assists and points when he tallied 24 goals, 32 assists and 56 points in 70 games. He was the recipient of the “Coaches Award” for his season-long performance, work ethic and attitude in the locker room.
He missed the final two weeks of the campaign with a separated shoulder, ending a club-record streak for most consecutive games played at 102.
Brett was the fourth of four PrairieThunder players to set the professional hockey record for most goals scored in the shortest span of time. He, along with teammate Jon Booras, John Nail and Neil Clarke combined to score four goals in the 35 seconds in a game April 5, 2007 at Flint.
