Billy came to the PrairieThunder midway through last season in a trade with Muskegon. He promptly registered 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 42 games to earn the team’s “Rookie of the Year” honors.
He technically started his pro career with the Texas Wildcatters in the ECHL where he played five games in 2007-08 after a four-year college career at Nebraska-Omaha. Billy played one game with Wichita of the CHL last season before heading to Muskegon, scoring two goals with eight assists for 10 points.
During his college career, Billy played 145 games with 13 goals and 30 assists for 43 points. Before turning pro, he earned MVP honors with the Rochester Mustangs and Chicago Steel in the USHL. He was the high school Player of the Year in Alaska in 2000 while leading his team to the state championship.
He has a degree in physical education and is an accomplished bowler, who would probably be on the PBA if not playing hockey.
