Biography
Bloomington lawyer Tim Leighton is the president of a group of investors who purchased the Bloomington PrairieThunder in April, 2008.
Tim and his group of predominantly local business and professional folks with ties to Central Illinois have instilled a “hometown team approach” in their marketing strategy. He is a native of New York and has been practicing law in Bloomington for 13 years after moving to the Midwest from Washington, D.C.
As managing director of Leighton Legal Group, LLC, he counsels clients in trust, estate, business planning, succession, transactions, charitable and tax matters. He is currently serving as the chairman of the Illinois State Association’s Business Advice and Financial Planning Section Council.
Tim earned his law degree from George Washington University while working as a Congressional staffer and association executive. He earned his honors baccalaureate from Georgetown and was a White House intern in the Office of Intergovernmental Relations.
He is very active in the Bloomington-Normal communities, serving on boards of Easter Seals, Illinois Wesleyan University Associates, McLean County Recovery Starts Today Drug Court, and OSF St. Joseph Hospital Foundation Council among others.
Tim and his wife, Debbie, reside in Bloomington and have three daughters, Kathryn, Caroline and Grace.
