Player Appearance Requests
The Bloomington PrairieThunder is proud to be able to give back to Bloomington-Normal and surrounding communities in Central Illinois. The PrairieThunder utilizes the resources of its professional players, coaches and staff to participate in a number of events throughout the season.
As examples, the PrairieThunder was proud to visit over 50 school assemblies to talk about their lives as hockey players, the rules of the game, the importance of education and sportsmanship.
The PrairieThunder also had representatives speak at many social gatherings such the Kiwanis, Rotary, Lion’s Club and Young Men’s Club in various communities.

Player Appearance Guidelines:
PrairieThunder players are available for a limited number of appearances, depending on the time of year requests are made. The majority of player appearances are community service, school or charity events and business functions. Players are not available on game days. Appearances are limited to one hour. Players generally wear casual clothing to appearances unless specific dress is requested.
CRITERIA:
We want this experience to be beneficial for those involved with your event and the players, themselves. With that in mind, we ask that each appearance meet the following criteria:
- Direct interaction with kids
- Clear role for the player at the event (ex: read books, hand out awards, etc)
- No athletic events with risk of injury
- Maximum player time (as large number of kids influenced as possible by visit)
- Publicity opportunities
FEES:
There is no fee in regards to a PrairieThunder player appearance.
AVAILABILITY:
Because the PrairieThunder players have daily practices, availability for events is limited. Players will not make appearances on game-days. Also, please note team practices are scheduled in the mornings, so please plan on afternoon appearances. Please contact the front office at least four (4) weeks prior to your event, to allow ample time to plan.
PROMOTING PLAYER APPEARANCES:
Use of the PrairieThunder name and logos that implies the support of an event by the PrairieThunder must be approved by the Community Relations Department prior to its use. Before promoting a PrairieThunder player appearance, please check with the Community Relations Department for acceptable practices.
REQUESTS FOR COACHES AND STAFF:
All speaking appearance requests for PrairieThunder coaches and staff must be made in writing.
Schedules vary greatly but are very similar to those of players. When players are unavailable, so too are many others in the organization who play supporting roles on and off the field.
